Kakao Friends Flagship Store & Ryan Cafe @ Gangnam

Gangnam-gu, Seoul, South Korea

Ever since they announced that they were opening the official Kakao Friends flagship store this year, I've been dying to visit. Luckily this time around, I got the chance to visit both the original flagship store in Gangnam and the newly opened flagship store in Hongdae! In this post I'll just talk about the Gangnam store, since I spent more time there.

If you live in Korea, you definitely can't live without Kakaotalk. Kakaotalk to Koreans is essentially WhatsApp to us Malaysians - it's our replacement for text messaging and if you don't have it, you're basically outdated. Even old people and kids use Kakaotalk here!

Kakao has their own set of cute little representative characters that you can use as stickers and emoticons in the chat rooms, and my god, THEY ARE SO CUTE.

My personal favourites are Ryan, Apeach and Frodo :B

As far as I know, there are usually only Kakao pop-up stores, so the store in Gangnam is the very first permanent flagship store in Seoul. The variety of Kakao character merchandise is insane, and I had to hold myself back from making any big purchases.

At the entrance, you'll be greeted by a giant Ryan figure that you can take pictures with. I was not having the best makeup day that day so excuse my face :T

There's seriously such a huge amount of merchandise here - there's a Kakao Friends version of everything.

Milk chocolates

Phone cases (the ones where they're squeezing their eyes shut are SO CUTE)

Face pillows

House slippers

Plushes - this one is 3/4 my size and costs about 90,000won (RM340) @__@

Going up to the second floor!

The home & decor section is.. quite amazing. I deadass want my future house to be full of Kakao stuff.

Baby plushes - I really want to go back and buy this T__T I LOVE the baby Apeach with its little tooth sticking out.

Sorry Tube.. :B

Kakao x Toms - personally, I wouldn't ever wear these but they could look pretty cute if you styled them right.

Jewellery - who needs Tiffany when you can have Apeach necklaces am I right ladies

Going up to the Ryan Cafe!

Finally!! I was super pumped to finally go to the Ryan Cafe, because, like the rest of the store, everything. Is. So. Cute. I'm sure by now you've figured out that I'm a huuuuuge sucker for cute things.

Even the little buzzer that lets you know when your order is ready for pickup is adorable T__T

Christina got the Citrus Lime Ade (5000won), Ryan cupcake (6500won) and a Ryan macaron (3000won) and I got the Citrus Grapefruit Ade (5000won) and two macarons (Ryan & Apeach - total of 6000won).

The food and drinks were not too bad, just a bit pricey but that's expected of a character cafe.

We originally got a seat in the middle with bad lighting but we eventually moved to the window seat and took some hella Instagram worthy pictures.

Hello blog readers, pls appreciate my selfies, thx ;)

They sell merchandise at the cafe too, so if you felt like you haven't already spent enough money downstairs, well.. :B

I only ended up getting the Ryan lip balm and the Ryan pouch to hold my makeup - and trust me, this was with a lot of self-restraint, lol. How cute, though!! T___T

That's all for my time at the Kakao Friends store in Gangnam! I'll talk about my experience at the Hongdae store very briefly in my Seoul itinerary post coming soon, so stay tuned for that. :)
